She’s only 5ft 4in but Madonna seems to be under the impression she is a LOT taller.
The 51-year-old singer stepped out in trousers that appeared to be far too long for her as she filmed scenes for her new movie W.E in Trafalgar Square’s Club Quarters yesterday.
Teaming her super-long black jogging bottoms with a leather jacket and her favourite trilby hat, Madonna looked decidedly unglamorous as she left the set for the day.
She may have been able to pull off the long trousers look if she had been wearing heels, but in her flat black pumps the excess material trailed on the ground.The singer said recently that the reason she decided to collaborate with her 13-year-old daughter Lourdes on their Material Girl collection because she wanted to be certain what was ‘cool’ in fashion, and what wasn’t.
At the weekend, Madonna wore an oversized navy 80s-style Adidas tracksuit, her favourite blue hat and polka dot navy and white shirt as she held a surprise party for her singers and dancers in London.
In keeping with her sporty theme she matched the outfit with white trainers.
But despite her misguided attempt at youthful dressing, Madonna had no trouble when it came to keeping up with her younger friends.
She partied at Aura club in the capital until 3am, when she looked slightly worse for wear as she was driven home.
Madonna is making her directorial debut with W.E, which has been described as a ‘two-tiered romantic drama.’
She refuses to let her previous foray into film – as an actress in the universally panned Swept Away – stop her from pursuing her ambitions.She also doesn’t appear bothered to be stepping on ex-husband Guy Ritchie’s home turf – he has previously filmed in London for several of his movies.
