The former Pulp star played a live soundtrack to gyrating students at the first day of a three-day art exhibition he was hosting in East London.
Cocker and his band played for hours, backing anything from graffiti sessions to pole dancing classes. He also mixed with the common people as he invited passers-by to jam with him at Shoreditch’s Village Underground. The event echoed a similar stunt which he set up in Paris earlier this year, playing for hours on end for free to anyone in the area.
As the hours ticked by, the musician and recently appointed BBC 6 Music radio presenter tackled a variety of instruments to create his ambient backing tracks.
This week he will be also be accompanying a yoga session, a hula hoop workshop and burlesque dancing lessons…

Actor and former model Anna Friel nearly forgot her lines when a spectator threw up over fellow members of the audience during a performance of Breakfast At Tiffany’s at a London theatre recently.
The sickly audience member vomited from the upper balcony of the London West End based Haymarket Theatre all over six people sitting below as Friel was halfway through a song.
But she proved to be a true professional and carried on with the job of entertaining as those involved in the incident were ushered out of the auditorium to be cleaned up. A search for the culprit then ensued. The embarrassed theatre goer was found and even managed to recover in time to return for the second half of the performance.
Friel has received rave reviews in the London papers for her performance in the adaptation of the Truman Capote novella, which runs until January 2010.
She strips for one scene as Holly Golightly - the role made famous by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 film of the book - a move which prompted a ban on the audience taking photos of her in the nude.
Coleen Rooney, wife of Premiership and England footballer Wayne Rooney, gave birth to a baby boy who was named Kai Wayne Rooney at 2:30pm on Wednesday.
The part-time television presenter and WAG’s son was born in Liverpool - the English city where she grew up - at an NHS hospital.
A spokesperson for the celebrity gossipmagazine headline grabbing couple said: “Mother and baby are both absolutely fine. Wayne and Coleen are thrilled with the wonderful addition to their family life.”
It has been widely reported in the London papers that Wayne Rooney plans to have his son Kai’s name tattooed on him - a trend amongst celebrities.
Bookies have already offered odds on whether Kai will follow in his father’s footsteps and make the Championship League but so far the best offer is 66-1. No doubt odds would be shorter if it was a question of playing the London club scene like Calum Best the son of a fellow Manchester United legend!
The photos were taken for luxury lifestyle magazine Harpers Bazarre. Artists with pieces featured at the event in London include the Chapman Brothers, Gillian Wearing and Marc Quinn.

Last Wednesday, the relaunch of LondonVIP club Chinawhite on Winsley Street in Soho proved memorable for many - including Prince Harry, who watched ex-love Chelsy Davy get too close for comfort to renowned playboy Hugo Taylor after the pair enjoyed a few glasses of Champagne together.
Celebrity gossips claim that word got back to Harry that Hugo made a play for his former girlfriend at the relaunch of the London night club and the young prince - third in line to the throne - was furious at the news…
A source said: “Hugo had told a number of pals that he’s got his eye on Chelsy, and as they are all in the same circle of friends it got straight back to Harry.”
Hugo, known as ‘Fagin’ by friends, is a new club promoter for Chinawhite - alongside Forbidden London Clubs of course - and has been linked to Princess Eugenie and model Saskia Boxford.
Chelsy and Harry met in 2004 and were together for five years. They split at the beginning of this year and have been linked with a number of other people - namely, for Harry, TV presenter Caroline Flack - but finally sorted out their differences and got back together last month.
Despite seeing other women, the prince was apparently “gutted” when Chelsy called off their romance. The course of true love never did run smoothly…
Celebrity gossips have whispered that Chelsea and England footballer Frank Lampard is smitten with 2008’s Strictly Come Dancing contestant and TV Presenter Christine Bleakley after flirting with her in at Amika nightclub in Kensington, London, last Saturday.
Frank and Christine arrived with a group of people from Strictly Come Dancing including Zoe Lucker and Joe Calzaghe and the dancers Aliona Vilani and Nicole Cutler. They all sat together at a table in the VIP area with Frank next to Christine.
Frank reportedly bought at least three bottles of fine Champagne - possibly Cristal or Dom Perignon - from the bar for the group even though he hardly drank himself.
The couple stayed for a lock-in until 4.30am, but it’s not known if they left in a limousine, London taxi or Mr Lampard’s motor together or if the England midfielder scored. Bleakley, 29, was reportedly first wooed by the Premiership footballer in September at the Pride Of Britain awards.

In the early hours of last Monday morning the celeb sports star, 37, was seen sneaking out of top London VIP clubNo 5 Cavendish Square in the London Regent Street after cosying up to a mystery brunette.
He gave a greeting to the waiting photographers that some may think would be rude, and he was even wearing the same clothing he was seen in when he kissed Kristina, 32, on BBC2 spin-off show It Takes Two. The pictures are now all over the London papers… oh dear!
The pair were booted off the dance competition more than a week ago but are thought to be dating.
Last night a spokesman for the - now retired - undefeated World Champion boxer said: “Joe’s a single guy letting his hair down.”
