London welcomed the new year in with style on December 31st with major parties taking place at all of the top London clubs to celebrate the start of 2010.
The eastern influenced nightclub Chinawhite, which reopened this year at a new location on Winsley Street – off Oxford Street, held a ‘Forget the Year Party’ which was attended by a very fashionable London crowd.
funkybuddha – based on Berkley Street, and popular with diners visitingLondon restaurant Nobu – invited guests to enjoy all the house drinks (spirits, wine and beer) they wanted at their New Year’s Eve party.
HEYJOCLUB, owned by multi-millionaire libertarian Dave West, held a dinner and dance for it’s VIP members with guests enjoying fine Russian food, Champagne and cocktails at the bar.
Actor and former model Anna Friel nearly forgot her lines when a spectator threw up over fellow members of the audience during a performance of Breakfast At Tiffany’s at a London theatre recently.
The sickly audience member vomited from the upper balcony of the London West End based Haymarket Theatre all over six people sitting below as Friel was halfway through a song.
But she proved to be a true professional and carried on with the job of entertaining as those involved in the incident were ushered out of the auditorium to be cleaned up. A search for the culprit then ensued. The embarrassed theatre goer was found and even managed to recover in time to return for the second half of the performance.
Friel has received rave reviews in the London papers for her performance in the adaptation of the Truman Capote novella, which runs until January 2010.
She strips for one scene as Holly Golightly – the role made famous by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 film of the book – a move which prompted a ban on the audience taking photos of her in the nude.
To celebrate Youth Music’s 10th Birthday this November, an exhibition named ‘Destroy Rankin’ will feature 70 of the world’s greatest musicians and visual artists, as part of a groundbreaking body of collaborative artwork based on Rankin’s iconic portraits of musicians.
As part of National Youth Music Week 2009, Youth Music will take over Phillips De Pury London – based near Victoria – for a festival of art and live music featuring performances from Destroy artists.

The 27 year old former model took part in the mile long trip across Leeds for the High Heel-a-thon in aid of the Breast Cancer Haven Charity for which she is Celebrity Ambassador and which aimed to raise £10,000 for the cause from the event.
Kimberley said: “This is a fantastic event. As a Yorkshire girl I’m so excited to be part of it.”

Rumer Willis, daughter of actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, has been in London this week promoting her new horror film, Sorority Row.
Rumour has it she stayed at London’s rock ‘n’ roll hotel, the Sanctum in Soho, which is owned by Embassy club entrepreneur Mark Fuller. It is not known if she threw the TV out of window, but she was carrying her purple velvet heels as she walked back to the hotel in the London rain.
