Kate Hudson in London: a new film role?

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

After topping up her tan in St Tropez, Kate Hudson showed off her bronzed limbs in London during a four-hour dinner with Harvey Weinstein.

The 31-year-old actress finally emerged from Scott’s restaurant after the epic meal with the American film producer, 58, whom she was no doubt discussing her next potential role with.

The Almost Famous star looked stunning on her night out in Mayfair in a baby-doll pink, green and brown embroided frock.

She accessorised the summer ensemble with green strappy heels and a black leather purse.

Mr Weinstein, who co-founded The Weinstein Company after leaving Miramax Films, followed behind his muse in a smart black suit and white shirt.

The pair looked as if they’d had a productive business meeting but have been known to party together in the past too, such as at The Weinstein Company’s Golden Globes party in January.

Hudson worked with Weinstein on the 2009 musical Nine and after the film was nominated for four Academy Awards, she’s sure to start another project with the movie mogul.

Weinstein will be looking for Hudson to help him achieve a blockbuster hit though after his independent production company, which he runs with Bob Weinstein, has had to strike a deal to repay debt after a long list of film flops. His company has had to turn over around 200 titles from its film catalog to Goldman Sachs and insurance company Assured Guarantee, as they were owed around $450 million (£294 million) from a backing deal to launch Weinstein Co. in 2005, according to the LA Times.

Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford parties in London after marijuana arrest.

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

It seems Chace Crawford is making the most of his freedom while he’s on bail following his arrest for possession of marijuana.

The Gossip Girl star enjoyed a night out in London, going to a glitzy party before heading on to Guy Ritchie’s Punchbowl pub in Mayfair.

Chace, 24, was joined by the likes of Glee’s Matthew Morrison for his night on the tiles.

Dressed in blue jeans and white shirt, the actor started off mingling with celebs at the pre Wimbledon party at the Kensington Roof Gardens.

It comes after he was arrested on June 4 in the car park of an Irish pub in Plano, Texas after police found an unlit joint in the car he was in.

He was subsequently released on bail but could face up to six months in jail if convicted on the misdemeanor possession of marijuana charge.

The actor was sitting in a friend’s Nissan car in car park of Ringo’s Pub in the early hours of June 4 when police swooped.

Crawford, who plays Manhattan rich kid Nate Archibald in the hit show, had just returned from a family trip to Mexico.

His next big screen role will be in the new movie Twelve, which also stars rapper 50 Cent and Kiefer Sutherland.

The Texan star plays a teenage drug dealer in the adaptation of the novel by Nick McDonell.

Piccadilly Circus to Undergo Revamp for 2012 London Olympics

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Piccadilly Circus will be taking a step back in time so that it is more pedestrian-friendly in time for the 2012 London Olympics.

Westminster Council has approved a £14m revamp which will recreate the popular London destination so it is reminiscent to the way it looking in 1963.

Piccadilly Circus is one of the most popular destinations in London

More than a kilometer of guard railings are to be removed as part of the work which will see a central island being built along Piccadilly and Pall Mall as two-way traffic returns to the busy thoroughfares.

Work, due to begin in November, should be completed before January 2012.

As part of the revamp the pelican crossing in Pall Mall by St James’s Square will be replaced with a zebra crossing and reintroduction of two-way streets from Piccadilly Circus along Piccadilly, St James’s Street and Pall Mall is expected to reduce congestion in the area.

The changes will open roads leading to St James’s Park, Horse Guards Parade and Pall Mall which will be in focus during the Olympics as beach volleyball, marathon, triathlon and road cycling events are held in the area.

Atkins, the company that recently re-designed Oxford Circus to introduce a new Japanese style ‘x-crossing’ will be responsible for the works.

Costs are being shared by Transport for London, Westminster Council, the Crown Estate and the popular upmarket department store Fortnum and Mason which has entrances on Piccadilly and Jermyn Street.

Colin Barrow, head of Westminster Council, stated, “In 2012 our capital will capture the world’s attention and our plans to transform Piccadilly Circus and the surrounding area will ensure visitors are as impressed by the city’s streets and all they have to offer, as they are with the sporting talent many will have travelled so far to see.”
