London Love Ball held during Fashion Week

Model Natalia Vodianova and Harper’s Bazaar co-hosted the first London Love Ball.  The event took place last night, Tuesday, February 23, at The Roundhouse in CamdenCelebrities, fashion designers and models attended the art auction, held to raise money for Vodianova’s charity, The Naked Heart Foundation.  The Charity works to provide assistance to underprivileged children in Russia.  Among the famous faces at the event were Kate Moss, Leona Lewis, and Stella McCartney.

Albemarle Street London - The Forbidden London Guide to Albemarle Street

Albemarle Street is a street in the heart of Mayfair in Central London, off Piccadilly, just five minutes away from Green Park underground station. It was the first one way street in London, aimed at getting traffic flowing better and has historic associations with Lord Byron. Best known for its art galleries, it is a host to such well known galleries like  the Albemarle Gallery, which represents contemporary paintings and sculptures from around the world, and has a tradition of supporting controversial artists and create superbly presented exhibitions. The Belgravia Gallery is here too, along with the  Marleborough Fine Art Gallery.

One of the best museums in London, The Royal Institution of Great Britain, is on Albemarle Street which runs a variety of exhibitions throughout the year. Club wise, one of the best karaoke bars in London is here: Cousin Jills, which offers an upmarket Mayfair setting to host events for corporate clients and celebrities.

Lovers of shopping will be pleased to find Guinot and London fashion designer Paul Smith’s stores are here, and along with the oldest jeweller in the world - Garrard & Co. Sort out your grooming dilemmas at Guinot, while the don of British fashion Paul Smith can sort out your sartorial ones at number 9.

There are some top London restaurants here too. Chor Bizarre serves top-class Indian cuisine, or go Italian at Ristorante Mosaico. There’s Japanese and Korean food here too from Sumosan and the Korean Kaya restaurants.

If you’re looking for somewhere to stay as well as food, Browns Hotel is here with its in-house restaurant, The Grill. It is London’s oldest operating five-star hotel, opened in 1837 (the year Victoria ascended the throne) by the enterprising James Brown, who was once Lord Byron’s valet.

Pole-dancing Jarvis Cocker Makes An Exhibition Of Himself In Shoreditch

Britpop rock star Jarvis Cocker performed at a pole-dancing class as part of an art happening in London this week.

The former Pulp star played a live soundtrack to gyrating students at the first day of a three-day art exhibition he was hosting in East London.

Cocker and his band played for hours, backing anything from graffiti sessions to pole dancing classes. He also mixed with the common people as he invited passers-by to jam with him at Shoreditch’s Village Underground. The event echoed a similar stunt which he set up in Paris earlier this year, playing for hours on end for free to anyone in the area.

As the hours ticked by, the musician and recently appointed BBC 6 Music radio presenter tackled a variety of instruments to create his ambient backing tracks.

This week he will be also be accompanying a yoga session, a hula hoop workshop and burlesque dancing lessons…

Peter Andre Parties With Chantelle & Nicola McLean at Funky Buddha After Dinner at Mayfair Hotel

Peter Andre let his hair down on Tuesday night enjoying the famous London nightlife when he went for dinner at a London restaurant, with pals Chantelle Houghton and pregnant Nicola McLean, before visiting the Funky Buddha Club in Mayfair.

Former Celebrity Big Brother winner, model and Paris Hilton lookalike Chantelle particularly seemed to be enjoying herself and was captured by a London photographer laughing loudly at recently single Peter Andre’s jokes - what a mysterious girl?!

The trio were joined by their manager Claire Powell at London’s May Fair Hotel for food in the venue’s top restaurant. Following the swanky meal at the London hotel, former I’m a Celebrity star Nicola, 28, and her footballer husband Tom Williams took the Aussie singer, 36, to nearby Funky Buddha on Berkley Street which is one of the top celebrity nightclubs in the area along with celeb haunts HeyJoClub, No 5 Cavendish Square and Vendome.

They were snapped for celebrity photos by London photographers for London papers leaving the night club at around 3am with DJ Sonique.

Pete, 36, attended the Christmas Carol premiere in Leicester Square, Soho earlier in the evening.

Nevermind what Katie did!

Regent Street and Oxford Street Christmas Lights get A Christmas Carol switch on from Colin Firth and Jim Carrey

Last night, Regent Street and Oxford Street were shut off to traffic and thronged with people for the annual Christmas lights switching on ceremony.

This year, the two popular London shopping streets have decorations inspired by the new Disney film version of ‘A Christmas Carol’.

The Regent Street lights went on first, lit by actor Colin Firth from the main stage at the junction of New Burlington Street and Regent Street and accompanied by a pyrotechnic display. Meanwhile, Jim Carrey did the honours for the Oxford Street illuminations. Bob Hoskins also got in on the act by lighting the the City of London Christmas lights.

And there wasn’t a “bah humbug” in earshot…

Former Baywatch Celebrity Pamela Anderson seen with Rock Star at Top London Club Whiskey Mist in Mayfair

Former Baywatch celebrity Pamela Anderson was spotted with a mystery “rock star” last Tuesday night at VIP Mayfair bar Whiskey Mist, just off Hertford Street.

The “rock star” in question was called “Alan”, the latest star of the Doritos Guitar Hero TV advertisement, who also took her on a shopping spree around the capital. Anderson was helping Alan, who is seen in the adverts aspiring to be a rock star, to achieve that status by being the sexy blonde rock chick on his arm as part of the promotion.

Earlier that day, she also visited the New Wimbledon Theatre where she will make her pantomime debut this Christmas as the genie in Aladdin.

But a source at the club, which is frequented by Premiership footballers and Prince Harry, said the 42-year-old actress didn’t even have a drink.

But at least she has a A-lad-in her life, even if it is “Alan”…

Katie Price AKA Jordan Drags Boyfriend Alex Reid To Standing Out Book Launch at Selfridges Oxford Street

Model Katie Price launched her new style book ‘Standing Out’ at Selfridges in London today.

The celebrity gossip columnist’s wet dream worked the London papers by bringing along her boyfriend, brother and close male friends Andrew Gould and Phil Turner, dressed in her own outfits.

Her new boyfriend Alex Reid, who has been the talk of the tabloids due to his cross dressing, wore the famous gold play-suit that Katie was photographed in while visiting ibiza; just after her split with Peter Andre.

Following the cross-dressing stunt, Jordan said: “This is all tongue in cheek. It’s all a bit of fun and we really enjoyed it” - at least somebody did!

Screenings Continue at the UK Film Council Backed 53rd BFI Film Festival Event at Southbank in London

The 53rd BFI Film Festival sponsored by newspaper The Times is currently taking place at the London’s Southbank, and there is much still to see and do.

Galas and special screenings include presentations of films The Fantastic Mr Fox, The Men Who Stare At Goats, The Road and Toy Story 2.

The fifteen day event which began on the Wednesday, 14th October and continues to Thursday, 29th October takes place in a number of locations across London, showcasing talent from the UK and world film industry.

This year’s event is boosted by financial backing from its long-time supporter the UK Film Council - based on Little Portland Street just north of Oxford Street - who have provided nearly £2m of Lottery funding.

Jarvis Cocker of Pulp Fame to Play Live Music at London Yoga Classes

Something changed for Jarvis Cocker as he is to play live music to accompany yoga and aerobics classes as part of a five-day London Art event in London England, it was announced on Tuesday.

Cocker, accompanied by his regular band, will perform at the Village Underground arts venue in east London from Saturday, 7th November to Wednesday, 11th November 2009.

The former Pulp star, whose celebrity peaked in the late 90’s with hits like Common People, will also jam with members of the public who turn up with instruments and improvise to suggestions from visitors at the event next month.

In addition, guest musicians will be turning up throughout the run, which is expected to see Cocker performing around seven hours a day.

Cocker has already undertaken one such stunt in Paris at the Galerie Chappe.
